Friday, December 02, 2005 - 04:22 GMT I called PSB, looking to replace the metal tweeters in my stratus silver towers with soft domes, nothing seems to match. Any Ideas for a transplant?

Friday, December 02, 2005 - 04:38 GMT The metal tweets are a bit harsh, as compared to the soft dome of the center, and I love that sound

Friday, December 02, 2005 - 12:56 GMT Nuck: I once had a pair of nht 2.4s and wanted to do the same thing. Was strongly advised by tech service at nht not to attempt such. So, out went the metal domes, towers and all. I liked the nhts at first but then they just got to be too much for my old ears. Guess you may be in the same boat.

Friday, December 02, 2005 - 13:37 GMT I am not sure, RD. I only changed the wiring a bit, a tip from Frank Abella, after he saw some pics on my site. I still had the binding strips on the bipoles, and he suggested I replace with speaker wire, then send the + to the tweet+ and the - to the bass -. The difference was dramatic. Now I wonder if I have opened a can of worms.

Friday, December 02, 2005 - 13:47 GMT If I swap them out, I think I might mount the resistors from the XO's externally on posts, to be able to swap them as well, tune them in. I have not actually seen canned worms, though.

Friday, December 02, 2005 - 18:18 GMT PSB called back, and suggested the domes from the 600 -1000i series, but caviat, no guarantees. no sweat, got the name of the guys making their XO's, and the guy there is more than happy to make me an open air inductor to replace the iron cores now present. Gets better all the time!
