I have a philips mini stereo system vcd player with fm/am,cassete tape. It has only 2 speakers connected at the rear by speaker jacks (clips). No other output connection. I just got a 5.1 amplifier with speakers and I want to connect it to my vcd player. 5.1 amplifier has AUX input AV jack. Can I connect my vcd player to amplifier by using the vcd player's speaker output jack (clip)? Does it blow out my vcd player speaker system? If not I will cutout the AV cable one terminal to connect to the stereo speaker output and the other end AV cable to the amplifier AUX input.
It is a bad idea to connect the output intended for speakers to an input intended for a line-level source, and that is teh "AUX": you are likely to blow the pre-amp stage of the 5.1.
A headphone output can work, if there is one. though it is very easy to overload the amp's input, and you should start with the volume right down.
To intercept the Philips pre-amp output you'd probably have to open in up, and know what you're doing.
