I have a pair of Sony speakers with the traditional speaker wire (red and black stripped wire) connections. I wish to connect these to my DVD player, which has RCA connections etc. I am not sure what to do and was wondering if anyone could help me? (If there is an adapter I can buy, or some way of stripping an RCA cable or SOMETHING!!) I would really appreciate someone's help, as there does not seem to be much info on this at all!

I also have the same problem and would appreciate some help with connecting traditional speaker (red/black) wire to RCA cable connection.
An RCA connection transmits audio, while a speaker wire transmits power. A DVD player does not produce power, it sends a signal to an AMP which produces power.
You need a receiver. The Panasonic all digital goes for $250 and will compliment your Sony speakers well.

Thankyou very much . . I will start saving for a receiver!
Thanks. I went to Radio Shack and picked up rca plugs but when reading the instructions on the back it says that both a positive nd ground must be connected. The speaker wire is two wires.
Does this mean that both wires from the receiver go to one rca plug?
Sorry for being so dense. The hardware etc. is many miles from so I'm helping (???) them by phone.
