Hello to all on the board I am new to the board. I have a sony reciever that shows protector when it is turned on. I can fix it but need some help looking in the right area to start trouble shooting. thanks for any help or advice. It is an str-de605. Rob
I don't understand how you can say you can fix it but you don't know where to look. If you have the capacity to fix it, don't you think you should know what went wrong first? And if you know what went wrong, shouldn't you know where it is?
Isn't that part of basic trouble shooting flowchart?
If that particular Sony is showing the protection circuit, you probably have a short circuit in the speaker output section, or it overheated. Those 2 are the most common problems I've seen on the Sony protection light of death.
