Connecting my guitar to my computer

shawn winterz Unregistered guest	Posted on Monday, August 29, 2005 - 01:41 GMT i have peavy rage 158 amp and it has a phones jack. a guitar specialist told me i can plug a cord into the phones jack and use an extension to hook it up to my computers mic jack. why isnt it working?
