HELP, i got an MP3 player but when i transfer WMA's onto it and try to play them it sez 'Format Error' What does this mean??

Its a bogstandered cheapy one from woolworths, in the manual it sez it plays MP3's WMA's and WAV's. but it won't let me.
Somebody help me!
