Posted on Hi, Why does B&W (a UK company) charge such a vast premium to their UK customers compared to US ? Are there any importers of 800 series ? Thanks Jack |

Posted on A little annoying, isn't it? I used to buy lots of UK made CDs from the States and Canada. Even with the extra postage costs they were still much cheaper. Not worth doing these days, the Customs men have wised up and seem to slap a 40% duty on everything, along with an extra weeks delay. They don't have 17.5% VAT in the States, some areas have a sales tax though, but it doesn't apply to exports. A lot of it is just retailers milking the captive market in the UK. There is more room for haggling over the price though, if you are tough enough.

Posted on Maybe the US needs to slap a tariff on Chinese textiles and B&W speakers. "Protect the shores, men, there coming in!" It may not mean much to those in UK, but here in the Colonies, we paraphrase a famous saying as, "One if by land, two if by B&W, ... "
