Puzzle for the pros

I'm new to the prosumer class audio, and I just got a Denon 3805. I would like to know which brand and set of speaker should be best (heard some rummors that Paradigm doesn't sound too good with Denon) for the Denon receiver within $1500 budget. I'm looking for something that would sound good both with movie and music listening. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Paradigm sounds fine with Denon. Bradford's in Eugene, Or. sell them together successfully. Paradigm's Monitor series is a good match. The PSB Image series as Joseph has pointed out would be a good match as well. Frankly there are a lot of good budget speakers that work well with your receiver.

Your best bet is to listen to some speakers and choose for yourself. I respect Joe and Art but they can only give opinions based on their respective listening skills and biases. Useful information, but far from definitive.

M&K K-Series - pretty awesome and I think they're about that money in the US. If not, apologies in advance!

Frank.

Thanks for the constructive comments guys. I thought I've heard that Paradigm's monitor series doesn't have magnetic shield. Is that true? I will check out the brands from other suggestion. Thanks again!!

Hi All...

I have one question, I am hooking up my polk Rti4's into my HK-AVR 635, and i am using a 5.1 setup. My question is... what input does the speaker go into, the R&L surround, or R&L surround back. The surround speakers will be behind the listener. Does it matter where it goes into??

Cerwin Vega D9- behemoth speakers :-)

Seriously, are you looking for bookshelves or Floorstanders??

I would add Monitor Audio to the list of suggestions.

LOL

I agree with Zorro. Unless you want a 'small' sounding HT system, you should avoid buying small halfpint speakers because thats exactly what you'll get by doing so.
