I'm not to familiar with audio technology, so I might sound dumb. My question is this. I just brought a new sound card for my computer. (Creative Audigy 2 ZS) My goal is to get the best possible sound I can get. I also have a Sony Audio Receiver. This audio receiver has surround sound speakers. (5 speakers and a Sub Woofer) Right now, I have the audio receiver and the sound card connected by an RCA cable. I'm think all I'm hearing is analog sound right now, but I'm not sure. What cables/adapters do I need to hear the best quality sound I can get? Thanks!
That's all there is to it - some receivers have a USB connection, but not sony.
The sound should be better than before the soundcard upgrade. If you want more, you can add a DAC in between - does the creative have an optical out? Probably does, in which case you can add an external DAC, that is an upgrade of the one in your soundcard.
But before that, which sony and what speakers are you using? Since a speaker upgrade might do more for the sound now than a DAC one, depending on the quality you have.
