2 computers? Unregistered guest | I just had a simple question. I recently bought and ipod, and I have two apple computers. I waswondering if I could upload songs from both computers? I ak because, when I try, a message comes up that says something like "would you like to replace all previous songs for these songs?" or something. Should I just ignore it and continue, or what!? |

Brodie Unregistered guest | Weird iPod Mini problem. I recently updated to the iTunes to the 4.9x release that supported Podcasting, but once the update was done ITunes recognizes my 6Gig iPod Mini but it won't transfer tunes to the iPod or delete the tunes on the iPod. Here's the kicker, ITunes says that the iPod has 58.8 Gigabytes of space with 37 Gigabytes used. I just (last night) updated to the new ITunes 5 and the latest iPod updater. No change. Still can't get iTunes to recognize this as a 6 Gig iPod Mini. Any Ideas? BTW, I'm using a USB connector, and I can control/update the iPod from my other PC which is still running the older versions of the iTunes/updater software. So the iPod and cable are OK. |

Anonymous | Sorry to add yet another question- I charged my ipod mini using the USB plugged into my computer and then when I turned it on to use it after it was fully charged all my music had disappeared. It has done this once before but after being turned off and left for a while, the music reappeared. It's now been over 24 hours though and no such luck. Any idea why or if I can retrieve all my music? Am reluctant to copy it ALL back on if possible. |

Anyway i did "something" and now all that appears is the apple logo. it will not connect to a computer. no program will recognize it. Im wondering if any program will manually recognize it and re-format it, or install a different version of it. bent Unregistered guest | ZebZ Use a HD app like disk warrior or disk utility or if your on pc find a drive utility and reformat the Ipod .. . its just a portable drive. Even if its not recognized by itunes it should be recognized as a drive connected to your computer. Then reinstall the new software. And you need to describe "Will not connect to a Computer" better thats too vague did you jam something in the socket or are you stating that a computer wont recognize it as a plugged in device via Usb or Firewire. |

Orpheus Unregistered guest | My main drive is d: The apple site says that the updater won't work if the main windows drive is not c: I updated on another machine but itunes won't recognize the ipod on the machine with the d: drive. I've had this problem before but after rebooting the ipod, it is eventually recognized. Unfortunately, I forgot what exactly I did. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

Orpheus Unregistered guest | I'll answer my own post for the benefit of those having the same problem. In control panel, administrative tools, assign a drive letter to the ipod drive that is a higher letter than the boot drive. Then run the updater and restore the ipod from the machine with no c: drive. The ipod will then get recognized by itunes. |

sarabee Unregistered guest | my ipod mini is being retarded. when i reset it, it shows the apple icon, then the sad face, and then settles at the picture of the charging battery (but minus the animation). its stuck on that picture most of the time. my computer won't recognize it either. i'm really at a loss of what to do with this stupid thing and i've looked on the apple site and haven't found anything. please help! |

Unregistered guest | I was charging up my iPod mini and added a few songs, then ejected my iPod out. All of a sudden, the computer recognized the iPod again, but I pulled out the wire as it happened. Now my screen is frozen with the screen that says "DO NOT DISCONNECT." I've tried to reset it by pushing the menu+select buttons, but so far that's done nothing. If anyone knows of anything I can do, please let me know!! |

What i did was took the cd i got with the ipod, and basically installed it on my mates pc, it worked on there... then i reformatted it and now it is fine on my comp. If u dont have the cd download itunes 6.0 and the ipod updater on someone elses comp. hope this helps.... |

simmo Unregistered guest | hi all, my Ipod mini connects to the computer fine, it recharges the battery and displays the 'do not disconnect' message as its connected to the computer via usb. However, my problem is that whilst descriped above, a padlock symbol is shown and when I disconnect the thing, the apple logo is displayed briefly, then the menu comes up, still with the padlock logo displayed and none of the buttons work. Obviously ive checked and made sure the hold swith is off, but I just can't seem to use the buttons!!! This being the case, I can't even reset the thing! And yes I've pulled it apart and checked the wires are all plugged in. Any ideas anyone? I thank you in advance and your help is much appreciated. |

bent Unregistered guest | Nicole Michelle . . . find your actual mp3 files on your hard drive and not the alias in itunes and drop them in your ipod. The limewire tunes you have are not in your itunes lib thier in your shared files on your hd. Serzz .. .. Restore your ipod to factory settings with Ipod Updater, it will zero out the drive on your ipod and restore the drive. Austin . . . same thing Restore you ipod put the latest drivers on it via Ipod Updater, also try manually placing your files on your ipod to see if they load. Unclick the option for loading files automatically in your ipod options and choose manually load files. Then just drag and drop the mp3 to your ipod icon in itunes. |

When I try to play songs on my iPod, the sound gets all messed up and you can barely hear it. The volume can be anywhere and its still all messed up. This has been happening for two weeks now. Before, it was just when I hadn't charged it, but now it happens all the time, even when it has just been fully charged. I have dropped a few times in the past, but not recently enough for me to believe that dropping it caused this damage. I can't think of what to do so please help me soon. |

Unregistered guest | I'm sure it has been posted earlier(possibly) but I will take a stab at it anyways. I also have a problem with my Ipod mini. It just doesn't work. More specificly it emits a beeping sound whenever it has a charge and is disconnected. It will still charge in usb and firewire, but it will only activate if it is reset while connected by firewire. Then it works as an ipod should. When it is disconnected the screen goes blank and no longer works. What gives? |

hallie Unregistered guest | Vexed and Perplexed! I upgraded itunes recently when prompted. THen I connected my ipod, it said my library was larger and would select songs for me. I said no. Later when I went to use the ipod it was empty! Now when I connect my 4GB mini ipod to the computer, it says updating complete, but when I eject my ipod, no songs have actually been transfered, it is empty. Then I restored the ipod to factory settings and updated it. Then I manually transfered songs by clicking and dragging in itunes. They appear and play under the ipod icon in itunes, but once again, when I eject by clicking the button, there are still NO songs or playlists on it. I am not getting any error messages. It seems to be working fine, except that I can't seem to load songs on it. Please help! |

Adam108 Unregistered guest | Hello, I have an ipod photo 20gb. I dropped in water two days ago where it remained for 2-3 seconds before I pulled it out. I freaked out a bit and pushed the click wheel and switched it to hold (as I know I should not have done with water inside of it). Since then, I have let it rest, taken it apart, blow dried it, reassembled it, charged it, reset it (menu/select) restored it through ipod update, and loaded songs onto it. The ipod will charge, and I can sync with itunes and manage songs (load and erase) when connected to my mac and itunes. It will turn on when I switch it to hold and the light will come on when I switch hold off. It will respond to a simultaneous menu and select button pressing. It will not respond to scrolling or clicking to view the music files or play music. There is no audible when the click wheel is pressed. The only response from the click wheel is when I reset (with menu/select). I feel like I am so close to a revived ipod. How can I get my click wheel to respond? Thank you, |

Unregistered guest | Hi. My iPod Mini is transfering is songs automatically, but about a 1/3 of the way thru, it stops. It lags and the little sync icon at the top left of the iPod Mini, stops then starts. Eventually when it finishes, after about a day(!), I disconnect in the usual fashion to find that the songs arent there! I did notice that the playlist names were there tho! Im really annoyed cos i love my mini! Can anyone clever help me? P.S. Ive done all the obvious restore, reinstall software and that kind of stuff! Thanks very much! Today though, i left it home because my battery was completely dead (like always since i keep forgetting to charge)My sister tried to turn it on, and all she had was the apple sign in black and white, and later, a check with the words "OK to disconnect" below it. Unregistered guest | Hey people i have a 4th gen ipod rite 2ogb yeah sumtyms wen i play my songs it gets stuck and the frist tym it dun this it turned of and i recharged it was fine. but the otha day same problem and i thort ill wait rite so wen i got home i charged it but the onli prob was that (i connected it to my comp) the apple logo came up and afta 10 sec a ipod with a came up an at the bottom it says www.apple.com/support/ipod...... and then it has the battery wid the zig-zag thingo but it neva charges even over nite.....btw i tryed this a billion tyms.....and it start the proccess over over afta bout 5 mins can u help me plz email me if u can too with the title ipod help!! stoog_y@hotmail.com thanks |

IPOD SHUFFLE Unregistered guest | i really need some help with my ipod shuffle. it was working great until today i opened itunes and was shocked to see that there was only a little bit of space left on my ipod. i had about 20 songs on it and it was saying that i only had 119MB left...that was strange. i took off all the songs from the ipod and it now saying that i probably have about 250MB left. what's up with that? what is stored in the other 250? i'm at a loss here. i'm not storing any data on it and everything that was on it was put there by me only. can anybody tell me how to fix this? i have no idea what is mysteriously eating all the space and i really would like to fill my shuffle to its full capacity of music that i can listen to. thank you! |

Unregistered guest | I'm having the same sort of problems as above, with my iPod Mini. In iTunes it tells me that I have 138 songs, 9.7 hours and 615.4MB of music on my iPod. But then just above that it says that I have used 3.76GB and have just 2.8MB remaining. I don't see how this is possible because I do only have 138 songs, the average size being about 3 or 4MB. Please help! |

Then my computer crashed so i had to restore. Now my iTunes keeps saying 'iTunes has encountered a problem and will close. Sorry for any inconveinence'. But when I hooked it up to put music back on it, etc. it started making this beeping noise and WON'T stop unless I keep resetting it....it seriously makes me want to jump out a window it's so annoying. Mandy K Unregistered guest | hi, i have a 4 gig ipod mini. i've had it for about ten months, but this just started happening recently. my battery bar says it has a full charge, and so does the computer when the pod is connected to the usb cable. but when i turn it on and scroll and pick a song, when it starts to play, a message says "no battery power remains, please connect ipod to power source." and then it turns off and shows the low battery symbol. if you try and turn it on that apple symbol comes on, and so does the low battery symbol, and then it just shuts off. if i wait 5 mins and try again, it will turn on but the battery bar will be empty and will then shut off again. help me please!!! |

bluraven Unregistered guest | I had a problem with the music quiz giving an error that there were no songs found, like a few other posts that I read. I fixed it by resetting my nano holding the select and menu buttons down for a few seconds, after it rebooted the music quiz found all the songs and started working agian. Just thought I'd share incase anyone else had that problem too. |

Mine hasnt had new songs on it for about 6 months because even though i have downloaded songs onto my computer, "update ipod" is never highlighted, and therefore i cant click on it, and therefore cant get new songs onto it. JP_in_Sydney Unregistered guest | hi after restoring my ipod - I got the file with !. It then told me to plug into mains - problem was that my adapter wouldn't work. Anyway I went to a store and stuck it in their mains. It showed that the ipod had been wiped but showed the menus etc. However when I connected to my laptop it all started over again and wouldn't mount etc. It then got stuck on Do Not Disconnect so I couldn't turn it off. Now it has been drained and will not recharge. Is there anthing I can do? it still has enough power to show the apple logo when I touch the click wheel, but that's it. |

Unregistered guest | my ipod mini only shows the apple sign. it makes clicking noises like the inside mechanism is doing something and at regular intervals the sign disappears for like 1 sec then it all starts again. i've done everything on the apple website. it wont turn off until it runs out of battery and then if i plug it in again it just starts doing it again. i've seen this problem on several comments above but no one's answered it I NEED SOMEONE'S HELP MAN! I updated the ipod and it worked and then a picture of a socket plug in came up and I pluged it into the adapter and plugged it into the wall and the picture is still there and it's not frozen because it will turn off and stay off but when I turn it on that same picture keeps popping up and it won't reset, and now it won't even show up on my cpu, i tunes, or updater. Unregistered guest | I have an iPod Nano that is formatted to work with my Mac, running OSX. I was traveling and wanted to recharge the Nano but used my PC to do this. It appears that the Nano charged ok but all of my files have been erased or at least appear to have been erased. Is it possible that when I plugged the Nano into the PC that the Nano got confused by a different OS and erased everything? If so, will I need to 'restore' the Nano then reload what I had on there originally? Thanks! |

Unregistered guest | I have the sad ipod face syndrome...i bought my 4G ipod mini 4 months ago, everythings fine, until one day it froze. I did the hold button,push menu and play reset thingy over and over again until i think i squashed the poor wheel...the apple sign does come up only to be followed by a sad face ipod...then nothing... i tried pluggin into my computer at home and at work and it doesnt show up on neither...not on itunes and not on windows hardware devices....i know i have no problem with my USB ports, and i used my ipod on my home computer that didnt have SP2 on it and it worked before , as well as using it on my work computer (that has SP2) and it worked fine there before as well.... i installed the newer software offa apple's website...still to no avail.... i unfortunately live abroad where no Apple stores exist , so i think ive just wasted 300 bux for nothing please if anyone can help, it will be greatly appreciated (ps only one thing i havent tried, reformatting my windows, what a drag!) |

New member Username: SmithersPost Number: 1 Registered: Jun-06 | I use Windows 98SE, and was able to use XPlay to transfer my music. When the trial ran out, I tried Anapod, and it wiped out my music. I thought no problem, I'll just back it up on my PC. Then I accidentally "formatted" it or something, and now not even the "Music," "Extras," or those files will show up, and only a file with an exclamation point does. I don't have the Updater, because I use 98SE, so how can I restore my ipod without it?? |

That device is not a frisbee and not shock proof! You drop it and it will get messed up. Drop anything electronic that is not designed for dropping will get seriously messed up. Send it in for repair and take better care of it. Have your friend pay for the damages. |

New member Username: LilstarbucksgalWilmette, Illinois United states Post Number: 1 Registered: Jun-06 | umm. ive got two problems. =) 1.) my mom erased my normal computers memory cuz our popup blocker wasnt working and all of these popups were coming out.. so it was deleted, and so was my entire itunes library which had a lot of songs and a lot of bought songs. i still have all my songs on my ipod, but how do i get them onto my library again? 2.) so our computer was fixed, but then it became broken again.. so my moms erasing its memory again. but i put some videos onto my library so is there anyway to store them onto like.. a cd? please replyy |

I've been charging my ipod for a couple of hours now and the "do not disconnet" will not stop flashing? When I connect my ipod to my usb port, my computer reads songs,as diana's I-POD( H: )drive and I can listen to them using MEDIA PLAYER. when I disconnect my IPOD from the computer and try to listen to the songs on my IPOD, my IPOD is showwing NO SONGS on it?? I know the music is on there but I don't know why I can listen to it? Can you please help. Thank you, Diana |

The Mini was laying on my suit [i was on a floatie] and when i picked up my mini, the back was wet. Being very protective of it, I immediately got out of the pool. I tried to switch the song but none of the buttons responded. I got them to work a little while ago by restarting my Mini but when it turned off and back on again, it went back to not working. I keep restarting it and plugging in the USB but nothing has happened since the one time. I need some serious help here. Should I call the people at Apple? Send it back and get a replacement? please help |

But recently ive plugged it into my computer and it shower a battery with a triangle with a ! in it. so it said do you want to update so i did. and then the wall charger popped up so i put it in there and it updated but now it says "No batter power remains. Please plug ipod into power." but when i plug it into my computer is says that it is charging but when i take it out there is no bar. what do i do? any information you have is greatly apprectiated. thanks! |

Gold Member Username: Project6Post Number: 8795 Registered: Dec-03 | The sad face on the icon means that your iPod has a bad hard drive and needs to be serviced professionally. You can try to fix it yourself by replacing the hardrive. Have you done any electronic work? |
