Hello Everyone,

I am looking for a 5.1 bundle for a friend. I bought all of my speakers piecemeal, but my friend is the type to opt for convenience and a quick decision proccess.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of $1K and something that is understated with respect to the styling and appearance. Will consider either bookshelf or floorstander fronts.

Thanks in advance for your helpful suggestions!

I'm never heard the following, but others will chime in:

5x Ascend CBM-170
1x Hsu STF-1

$1,038 + $56 shipping

Could work if the room isn't too big.

5 Axiom 3ti (factory outlet prices ) x $135
1 Hsu stf-1 x $299 = $974 + shipping for the HSU and no taxes.

I "heard" they are pretty good

I see I have to be the savior of this thread. The Bose Acoustimass 10 Series III is 999.00 retail and will beat the pants off any of the aforementioned speakers. Plus you can find them on sale from time to time, or go to the Bose outlet store for a great deal.

Bose, the most respected name in sound.

No Peter I haven't heard it but with Hsu's rep and some very good reviews I'm bettin' it's not bad for the bucks. It also meets the original posters request for a "bundle" as opposed to a piece meal setup.

RShneck,

I'd echo Peter's original recommendation though maybe the Hsu STF-2 would be worth an additional $100 bucks over the STF-1 especially if he likes exploding action flicks.

"The Bose Acoustimass 10 Series III is 999.00"

...and you get all the whining for free. The acoustimass covers that range very well.

Anonymous I wish I knew who you are, just to know if you were joking or serious.

Art, you can get the Ascend/Hsu combo from Ascend. It's more expensive than the Ventriloquist, so that's why I wanted to know if you had heard it.

Edster, I'd go with the STF-2 too but was trying to stay closer to the desired price point. But i agree with you! I'd spend that $100 easily! (I also have an STF-3...)

Orb Audio systems are $749 for entry level, $999 for the "People's Choice"

Great sound for both music and movies, really slick design, and great service.
