TDL Speakers - What model & price?

Unregistered guest
Can anyone here help me identify some TDL speakers? The serial number on the back is S1200/917L (and S1200/917R for the right speaker). They are black ash, with stands.

Any idea what model they are and how much they are worth? I'd also appreciate knowing what spec they are so that I can advertise them accurately - is there a resource on the web I can look up?

TIA

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the Orion Blue book?

It is the (un)official price guide to all things 'consumerly elctronic'. It will not list items by serial number, but no one here is likely to remember what serial numbers went with what product either. There are basic descriptions to guide you toward the correct product. However without a model number, the chances of finding and selling the speaker are greatly reduced.

Put Orion blue book or Orion price guide in a search engine.

Thanks, I've discovered, by looking at the original packaging, that they are Studio 1 (I should have guessed from the serial number starting with S1) and then looked them up on Orion as you suggested to get a value.

I was amazed to see that they were still worth quite a lot. Have you found Orion to be accurate?

The only remaining task is to find out their technical spec so that I can ebay.

The price of a used piece of anything is exactly what someone will pay for it. The Orion guide is a start but everything depends on whether some wants your speakers.

True.

A lot depends on how they are described too. I'm not sure that many people will have heard of TDL unless they are enthusiasts.

Do you know whether there are any specialist places to sell online or if ebay is the best option?

Audiogon is popular and seems to manage decent prices for both parties. There are a few other internet sites; put "sell used consumer audio" or something to that effect in a search engine.
