My question is probably going to make you crack up. What is the difference between a pre-amp (one that does processing) and a reciever? Specifically I'm looking at an ebay or b-stock Outlaw 950 vs Marantz SR8400 on ubid right now. I'm not a total moron, I'm sure pre-amp means you plug an amp in after the pre-amp and before the speakers, but looking at pre-amps it sure seems like it does everything a reciever does even handles video inputs. Can you plug speakers directly into a pre-amp? I haven't picked out speakers yet but I saw these BIC Venturi DV5312 and you can get them with a 200watt amp built into the speaker. So can you go pre-amp to speaker amp and skip the whole amp thing? Thanks in advance, Hunter |
