These holding companies are buying up everything, saving money on some consolidation of backoffice, sales and distribution. However my experience with holding companies has been that it is so difficult to consolidate, even to the extent I mention above that the smart holding companies leave the rest (R&D, design and manufacturing) totally separate. I wouldn't read too much into this. In this line of work the diversity of produts is actually a very good selling point. Otherwise look what has happened to GM. |
