Just purchased Denon 2805 receiver. Connected to Toshiba DVD recorder, speakers Bose Acoustimass 6/5.1
When I play certain DVD's recorded in "Dolby Digital" only, the receiver's decoder assigns the Dolby ProLogicII, or DTS Cinema for sound output. I have the DVD Recorder sound output set to "Bitstream". I have the input mode of the receiver set to "Auto". I am using an "Optical" cable between DVD Recorder and Receiver.
The display lights on the Receiver, light up Digital on input side, with only F/R speaker lights showing up. The output side lights of Receiver show entire 5.1 speaker connection.
Why am I getting an analog signal on input, if the movie's box indicates that the soundtrack is recorded in Dolby Digital? On some of the movies, there is no sound adjustment level in the menu of the movie.
