I would like to run my 5.1 surround channels into two sets of R and L speakers(very long room). I have an Adcom GTP 750 5.1 channel preamp and two Adcom GFA-545 100 W stereo power amps for the job, with 8 ohm Polk Monitor speakers (two 5jr's and two 7's). Can I safely parallel the surround preamp out jacks into each power amp using Y connectors, each power amp then running one set of surround speakers? Or can I use one power amp and parallel 2 speakers on the R speaker output and 2 speakers on the L? All speakers 8 ohms.
Each amp running one set would be the safest bet. Do realize the surround effects will be less than precise in location when you add the additional distance between the suround speakers. You would be better advised at that point to try a 7.1 system and place your additional speakers at the center/rear of the room.
