paul... no offense, but the two items that you omitted are probably key points. i think the point of a survey like this would be to analyze if certain problems only effect certain runs of product. whether only a certain range of serial numbers have certain problems...or if only certain firmware revisions have other problems.
i know the original poster seemed to intend this survey mainly for the 7x3 series, but i figure it may be helpful with the 7x2 series as well if all pertinent information is provided.

1) T763 2) v1.25 3) R3YT76301130 4) 110 5) US
6a) No 6b) No 6c) No
7) No 8a) No 8b) No
So my question is: should I be trying to update the firmware to v1.26 when I don't have any issues with what I have?
I don't think you could say any firmware version is "preferable". Having a later version is not necessarily better or worse than having an earlier one. My T762 does NOT have the latest firmware updates, yet it works flawlessly. Firmware updates are used largely to fix problems that might have arisen since the last version was put out. If your unit is working fine, then which firmware you have should be of no concern. If you are having problems with your unit, then check to see if there are firmware updates. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

POPs: Neither receiver emit pop sounds when changing source, if that's what you asked. Both has random low-volume pop-ish sounds that can come after being on for a while. Watching a quiet movie, I might hear it 3-5 times.
