I've heard that if you use a bass with a guitar amp it can damage the amp? Is this true? Would a guitar sound ok on a bass amp?

This is the hifi section mate, not musical instruments. To answer your question though, yes - a bass guitar will damage a guitar amp. You can play a guitar through a bass amp though but it won't sound great.
