Hi, does raising tv or radio volume cause a significant encrease in power consumption? I mean, i totally understand how that can wear down batteries, but would constantly playing my televion on full volume significantly affect the electricity bill?
every time you raise your volume just 3 decibles, you need to double your amplifier's power. the higher the volume level, the greater the power consumption. at 100 watts... 3 more decibles requires 100 watts.
the cost increase to your power bill at higher volumes shouldn't really be that significant though unless you're listening to 5 channels at ear splitting levels all day every day.
most of your music listening is probably only 1-10 watts with full power only at brief peaks.
