While the ES line performs better, I find the cost/performance benefit doesn't add up when comparing to competitors. The Pioneer 1014Tx is a stronger performer within the same price range. If you found your previous Pioneer's sound too flat take a look at the Yamaha HTR-5790 or the RXV line preferably. Marantz also makes good receivers at that price point. Take a look at the 4400. |
edster922 Unregistered guest | I agree with Kano, non-ES Sony receivers suck big time. Their DVD/CD players aren't too bad though for the money. If $200 is your absolute limit then you'd be better off going with a refurb Onkyo 502 from ecost.com for $190. The Pioneer 1014 would be much better but around $350-400. |
