From what I understand, the main advantage is the significantly higher capacity and flexibility of this format. With regards to audio, It is not clear to me whether there are or will be any advantages in terms of sonic quality above and beyond SACD / DVD-A. The next generation PlayStation gaming console is supposed to use this new format. |
