Denon 1804- poor Dolby digital performance

Hello,
My new Denon 1804 is a real puzzler. DTS sounds great, but Dolby digital dvds suck big time. The centre channel sounds very weak and frontal impact is absent!
Is is some dvds or is it Dolby digital's problem?
I have Paradigm speakers, all large.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the digital processor is not decoding correctly. I would e-mail Denon and see what they have to say. They should respond in 2-3 day tops!
