RCA Cable Adapt to Optical or Coaxial Audio

I have an older receiver, and am trying to connect a new dvd player to it. I have coaxial audio out, or optical. My receiver only accepts the RCA jack inputs. Is there a way to do this?

Mike: what is your receiver brand and model? I ask just to make sure the problem isn't that your receiver does not have a coaxial digital input (RCA) jack.

Othersie... you should just connect your DVD player to your receiver via the standard RCA audio jacks (L/R) on the back of the DVD player... to an appropriate analogue input (RCA L/R) on your receiver.

The real question is... why do you want to connect your DVD player via a Digital Connection?

(The only other way to do this is to get an external Digital to Analogue Converter (DAC). This is probably $200.00 by itself. I can't see the justification in this case. You're better off buying a new receiver.)

Please answer those questions and maybe we can help you figure this out.
