I have just gotten a Sony Digital Cinema Receiver and when I turn it on, the word "Protect" appears on the display and I am unable to use it. The system is used, I received it from my brother and I do not have the manual. Does anyone know what is wrong or how to fix it? Any sort of help would be appreciated. Thanks.....
Protect Mode is when the unit senses a possible short in the system. This could be internal or with the speaker connections. If it goes to Protect mode with no speakers attached you may want to try taking the cover off and cleaning the interior with compressed air. Another option is a professional cleaning.
Cleaning may be a waste of time because the power supply or another internal component may need to be replaced or serviced.
