I can't figure one thing out with my H/K 230 remote. It seems almost every time I want to change sources or the volume, etc., I have to press the upper left AVR button first before any other button will work. Am I doing something wrong? Does the remote have to be set up to avoid this irritating quirk?
You are correct. Once you push the input button you have to push the AVR button to adjust the volume of the reciever.
This is because you may want to program your remote to work your DVD player or TV. Once you push the DVD input button the reciever switches to DVD mode and the remote will control your DVD player. You can switch back to the reciever by pushing the AVR button.
Stone, I don't know if your still around... Last night I was programming my remote and found a way to get around pushing the AVR button to chnage the volume. Look at page 37 in your manual and it describes a way to program with a "volume pass-through" and a transport pass-through." That will solve your problem.
