I have a NAD 2200pe and 1155, with denon cd (all circa 1987). General Question: go with monitor/ monitor with sub or small footprint floorstander. Room size: 14x12x8.5 ceilings. Long wall #1 couch and other seating. long wall #2 broken by wide doorway to entry foyer. short wall (near) into room broken by french doors to second room; wall extends 40+ inches on each side of doorway. far short wall- windows with drapes. two listening chairs on that end of room.
Specific speakers: At this point looking at VR1 and VRS1 (or VR1 alone);or VR2 ; or Dynaudio 52 SE with sub/or alone and 72 SE. I don't want to overwhelm the room and I cannot, due to WAF, and size issue place monitors or standers optimally distanced from near short wall in a very near field listening setup. How close to near wall can I get before there is a steep decrement in staging and sound quality. I do keep equipment, so i am not looking for short term trade ups. no question i have to live with compromise. I look forward to hearing all viewpoints, as I am really 'stuck' in this muck. Thanks for all your help
