I was wondering if, in general, it is best to go with a ported box for home audio use? I know that a lot of car subwoofers are in sealed boxes becuase they can get the extra SPL from cabin gain, but this is not the case in a room(minimal gain). Without this extra gain, will sealed subs give enough punch (for both music and movies) or will they be anemic and lacking? Anyone with any views or experience about this, a reply would be appreciated.
There are good examples of both types for home audio use. There is no "iron clad" rule of one type being absolutely better than the other, despite "opinions" to the contrary.
