I once (several years ago) owned and used a DCR-TR7000 for years, compilling dozens of HI8 Tapes. It is a digital Camcorder. The it was stolen. I recently purchased a CCD-TRV308 from ebay. It is a analog camera thinking I could use it to transfer my Hi8 tapes made on my DCR-TR7000 to my computer. Problem? When I play the tapes recorder on a digital Camcorder they do not play on the new ... or really used ... CCD-TRV308. Is that because you can't play Hi8 or 8mm tapes recorded in a Digital Camcorder on a anolog macine?
There is some limited backwards compatibility on media format when playing analog Hi8 on digital8 camcorders.
What you did here is trying to read new media by using old equipment. It's like asking a CD player to read an MP3 format disc...they both fit in the slot, it just can't understand each other.
