Silver Member Username: Donnie1973Tennessee Post Number: 546 Registered: May-06 | It depends on how "good" u want to delete it. You can get software to delete all traces of files. (where even the FBI cant get see it) A format wont do that. |
Silver Member Username: GavdawgUpstate, New York Post Number: 685 Registered: Nov-06 | and if you download that software, the FBI and a crimelab can see that you have downloaded it. The majority of those sites are set up by crime watchers to see who does what. |
Silver Member Username: Donnie1973Tennessee Post Number: 547 Registered: May-06 | but they wont be able to see what u have deleted. Which is the point! The software is not illegal by ANY means. U can delete whatever you want, any way you want, using whatever software u want off of YOUR pc. They can WATCH all they want. If they only WATCH... then they are too late. lol. If they WATCH u download it, then come after you to see what u are trying to get rid of, Which they cant do anyway, you would only get in to trouble if it didnt work. (the software) |

I don't want to condone illegal activity or anything, but... Software to "permanently delete" data isn't monitored by anybody really. Its pretty widely used by businesses and individuals to prevent data and identity theft. Of course software that claims to "permanently delete" something may not always actually work in as much as it can still be recovered by crafty individuals or the FBI. There are of course ways to do this yourself as well. If you format your drive and completely write over it, there isn't going to be much of a trace of what was there previously. Repeat that process four or five times, and you can be pretty secure that no one will find your original data. Nonetheless, they say the only truly sure fire way to annihilate data is the destruction of the disc. A nail through the physical disc works nicely. |
