hey guys, could anyone comment on creative's fatitly xtre.. in regards to rippin audio cd's. do those hiss, distortion removal and cracks really get expunge from distorted mp3's and do they sound good when ripped as a audio-cd.. will that be just standard 16bit or 24bit..
i never used clean-up utility I to clean mp3. Not sure if that is meant for it. But I used it when ripping vinyls and it did the trick - removed most crackles and hiss nicely. You do not want to set the treshold too low or music wont sound natural, but that's the case with any processing, just let your ears judge.
With X-Fi you are getting the Crystallizer - a 24 bit expander/enhancer. Easy to use and it adds extra dynamics that are often lost when ripping CDs to mp3. You can apply as much of this as you want or turn it off entirely. A handy feature to have and it works great with some concert recordings for example.
