Yeah, I know its already fast, but I was wondering what I could do to speed it up even more.Any suggestions? |

Thought lately IE's security updates have been much better. It's all mostly just keeping the computer maintained, you really won't get it faster with software, it all comes down to the hardware. I'd suggest another stick of RAM as your first upgrade. Maybe get a faster RPM hard drive...though it would kind of be in vain to do too much upgrading to that computer because it has a Celeron processor :P |

Silver Member Username: Wolfman1966WEST MONROE , LOUISIANA USA Post Number: 390 Registered: Jan-06 | just downloaded firefox, then did a little tweak I found on the internet...damn its fast...of course cable internet doesn't hurt either |
Gold Member Username: IlluminatorUSA Post Number: 4673 Registered: Apr-05 | Yeah, sure. Celerons just aren't regarded very well by the computer community because of their cheap price matched with lower performance. But they're still great processors that will last forever if they're treated right. Another stick of RAM would be a pretty big upgrade, actually. Shouldn't be too expensive, either. |
Silver Member Username: Wolfman1966WEST MONROE , LOUISIANA USA Post Number: 391 Registered: Jan-06 | Well, things are definately faster with firefox and the tweak I did. DL was a little over 3000kbps dont know UL speed. Now its 4812kbps download speed, and 356kbps upload speed. \ yes I know that RAM is fairly inexpensive, but I have 512mb...how much more should I add? another 512? and will I see a difference if I do? |
Gold Member Username: IlluminatorUSA Post Number: 4676 Registered: Apr-05 | Yep, another 512 will make a difference for sure, especially for having multiple applications open. |
Silver Member Username: Wolfman1966WEST MONROE , LOUISIANA USA Post Number: 392 Registered: Jan-06 | OK, but I am wondering...how good is my speed now? is almost 5000kbps download fast, and how about my upload speed? |
Gold Member Username: IlluminatorUSA Post Number: 4688 Registered: Apr-05 | It's fast. |
Silver Member Username: Wolfman1966WEST MONROE , LOUISIANA USA Post Number: 396 Registered: Jan-06 | isnt 4812kbps the same as 4.812mbps? |
