I have an Inspiron that I bought a couple years ago for about $1100. Right now I'm beaing told I need a new motherboard and the guy told me he would do it all for $460.00. My question is do I fix it and maybe have it crap on me again, or do I buy a new notebook? Thats a big difference from under $500, to over a grand.

But what do you get for $460.00? Upgrades? Better processor?

I think he'll get the motherboard replaced plus labor for $460. Definitely not worth it...

Thats exactly what Im getting. MB + LABOR. The guy says I have a good laptop, fast, but I'm so uninformed when it comes to computers. I have a desktop so I'm not in dire need to get this fixed but I would hate to waste a fairly new laptop. I also dont have the funds to spend 1000/1500 on a new comp right now. Do I go for a used one off Craigslist or something like that, or do I just sack up and wait it out til I can afford a new one? Would really like to have a laptop back ya know.
