Upgrade to xp from 2000pro on an ABit-VH6T Socket 370 Motherboard

My ABit-VH6T (1GHz) does not like the upgrde to XPpro, starts to load than locks up. I have a 30 gig haed drive. I will be upgrading to an 80gig hard drive, video, and audio cards. Any ideas or support pages that can help.
