Are these wireless routers with their claimed "accelerating" capabilites really worth it? Especially Linksys and their "SpeedBooster" technology.
I'm getting DSL soon and planning to set up a WLAN in my house. There's gonna be at least 3 units to connect, possibly 4 or 5 with XBox 360 and PS3 later on. Any advice regarding solid companies would help.
I have linksys equipment without the Speedboost. The booster technologies will really only help the speed between the devices in the home. Computer to computer in other words (network gaming, etc.). Your DSL will not really see any gain from these technologies. You'd probly be better off looking at range extending technologies over anything else. But most people do not need this as wireless device ranges are plenty from the home.
Just make sure you buy 802.11g standard equipment and you will be fine. I prefer the Linksys. Their 802.11g wireless router will do just fine for your current and future needs.
