Look at the Kicker KX300.4
If you want something better than that and have the money, look at Zapco's Reference series amplifiers at www.zapco.com

Im hooking-up two crappy Legacy amps, and I was stuck wondering if I should use an 8ga power wire, or a 4ga power wire. With these kind of amps you can't ever tell what the true wattage is, but one says its max is 400, and the other says 240. I don't know the rms is on either of them. so : 4ga or 8ga?

To add to my question before, I was going to run a 4ga wire to a splitter, to 2- 8ga wires. One 8ga to each amp. Is that cool? or no?

you're doing well.
to figure a rough RMS rating from a max rating, divide by 4. That's not always totally accurate, but generally speaking, max is about 4X RMS.
Also remember if the amp says "1600 watts max!" instead of per channel etc, that usually means it's 1600w Max, bridged which equates to a stereo 2 Ohm load if it's a 2 channel amp, so you have to divide down to a stereo 4 Ohm load first.

yeah run 4AWG to the amp locale, then split with a distro block to 8AWG.
that's good, and the same way I ran my Orions.

here's a guide to wire gauges for length, current, wattage, etc:

Thanks Glasswolf. It seemed to make sense to do it that way, but I'm glad that I made sure.

well.. I did answer you, too :-)

MTX's Thunder series amps are nice. good performers, plenty of power, good price. in the moderate price range.
not dirt cheap, but not high priced.

one more question bout the mtx thunder 404
http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/products/amplifiers/thunder404.cfm
says something about a cross over and high and low, im not that good with these kind of stuff,
but does that mean i can set the front speakers to HIGHS and back speakers to LOW??
i know you can do that with a 2 way crossover..is this option included in this amp??
thanks

yeah.
you can set fronts to 85Hz high pass for components, and rear to low pass at 85Hz for subs (stereo or bridged)
the XO point is fixed, but you can set it to high or low pass, or full range.

nice amp.
