ok my friend is a retard and he uses 8 guage to power his amp, but he uses something like a 20 awg speaker wire to ground it. its not like he's using much power, hes got 2 kicker comps and a kicker 150.1 or something like that so, and btw, his subs sound liek shiz so does he need an 8 awg ground cable for that amp to really kick it up a knotch?
A bigger ground is always good, i have a 4 guage power wire and a 4 guage ground thats less than 3 feet long (prety big but i bought it all in a preformance wiring kit for $70 canadian)also check that theres no paint where the ground it and that theres a good connection
yup. use 8AWG to ground the amp to bare chassis metal. Bob's right on the money there. It should make quite a difference. So will properly setting his amplifier gains for those subs, and probably building a better speaker box depending on the one he uses now. These are all just suggestions for improvement.
