I recently upgraded my system a bit to a 10 inch MTX 8000. However, I am having difficulties finding a box that will fit it. I had an old sealed box that I made a little larger so I could fit the sub, but I don't really like the way it sounds.
build a custom box from three-quarter inch MDF for the sub. build the box to mfgr specs. Generally for a sealed ten inch sub, you want 1.0cu ft. For ported, you'll want 3" ID ports, tuned to 35Hz, with a box volume of 1.5cu ft. these volumes are after driver and port displacement.

I am still not quite sure if I want just 1 sub or get another matching one, so I don't really want to build a box for 1 and then have to build another box for 2.
What would sound better for the sub, sealed or ported? For some reason it sound a bit distorted in my current enclosure.
Efficiency Bandwidth Product (EBP) EBP = Fs / Qes 50 or less = best used in a sealed enclosure. 50 - 90 = flexible enclosure options. 90 or greater = best used in ported enclosure.
