how many amps should you have for front and rear speakers. do you need any?

If you choose to use an amplifier for fronts/rears instead of the head unit's power (if any) look at a nice 4 channel amplifier. the Kicker KX300.4 is a popular choice.
Then, for subs, you can use a monoblock subwoofer amplifier.
