Hi,I got a 12WO,in a box I made out of 1/2" wood at max, from a old entertainment center. Its about 1.8 cubic feet internal. Im thinking about making a new box out of 3/4 MDF,around 1.4 Would it sound alot better, Because Im kinda impressed with it in the box its in? But If I could get even BETTER sound?? Thanks.
also he only has 1 sub so wouldnt he divide the width by 2 to have a width of about 15.5?

Yea,I knew how to do that too,but I now dont. Whats the .5 for? Thickness of the wood I think? Im confused on how you take the first dimensions off the internal, thanks.
Well the reason You get the .5 is becuase the internal dimensions when made out of 3/4 material you have to add an extra 1.5 on top of the internal dimensions to get outside dimensions to take the place of the wood displacement.
The reason you divide by 1728 is becuase that is the number you get for a cu ft.
just for the record if you build a smaller box you will probably gain spl but lose some lower frequencies you used to be able to play in the bigger box.
