"Depending upon the depth of the new radio and the type of radio installation kit you use, you may have problems inserting the new radio into the dash. New radios are usually deeper than the General Motors radio. In this vehicle, the rear of the GM radio was held in place by a plastic bracket with a hole in it. The rear of the new radio may hit this bracket and prevent the new radio from installing completely in the dash. If this happens you will have to break off or saw off this plastic bracket so that the new radio will properly fit into the dash. The quickest way to break off this bracket is to grab the top of the bracket with pliers and twist and pull until the plastic snaps and breaks away." Good Luck |
