New member Username: RobertgConcord, California Post Number: 1 Registered: Jan-20 | This is for a 2000 BMW Z3 Roadster with a Blaupunkt Business CD/Radio. S/N - X2143977 Local dealer gave me the code 21243 but didn't work. Bimmer forums say there could be more than one code depending on manufacturer. I'll donate to the forum with correct code before going back to dealer... or getting a new radio with bluetooth, etc. |

New member Username: RobertgConcord, California Post Number: 2 Registered: Jan-20 | Thanks, I was reluctant to pull the radio since it required a special BMW "5-sided anti-theft" screwdriver. It sounded like a hex key and a 3/32" worked. Same make, model manufacturer as above. Part/Model: 7 649 272 042/040/44 Serial No: BP9272X2143977 Photo attached: |

New member Username: RobertgConcord, California Post Number: 3 Registered: Jan-20 | Yes, that code worked, thanks again. Here's the trick since you provided a 4-digit code while here in North America the radio requires a 5-digit code. In past threads such as this one: https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/car-audio/604625.html the requestor was referred to restoredclassic@aol.com (http://ukbookshelf.co.uk/bmw) where codes will be retrieved for a small fee. But the 4-digit Europe code will work on a U.S.A. radio by changing the "Area" setting in the radio to "Europe". This is done by press and holding the "M" button as soon as radio is turned on. Radio will show the serial number first then press the "+" to get to the Area setting then press "1" to change. Turn radio off then on and the 4-digit "Code ----" should appear. If an incorrect code is entered you get a "CODE WAIT" and you have to wait at least an hour for the radio to reset or disconnect power. If the radio starts, turn off and on then press the "M" button to change Area back to USA. Why there's a 4-digit European code and a 5-digit USA code on the same radio is the big mystery. Donation sent to CRTM. |

The reason is to do with the radio station frequency tuning intervals being different between Europe and America radio stations. |

And in addition it seems to me that the 5-digit code is not the right one either. I found the 5-digit code = 31143 Thank you very much for your donation. |
