I really hope someone knows the answer to this question. I was givin a Clarion MAX675VD i installed it in my 99 grand am. What i was not aware of is this head unit requires a 5.1 surround sound decoder if using a external amplifier. It will send to amp if on radio but not the media player/cd/dvd. Is anyone familiar with this head unit and if there is a way around the decoder. My understanding is the decoder is under $100 but to use the decoder it also requires the programmer and that can run $150. My thinking even though i really like this HU i can buy a up to date brand new HU for $250. Th is is in a work car so i wasnt looking to spend alot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated THANKS Heath
