I installed a Kenwood D Amp in my vehicle. I purchased a LOC which also came with a remote power wire.
Connected the power wire from the batter with a fuse, Ground the negative, connected the + wire of the LOC to the input power of the amp (same wire from the hood of the car. I connected the negative LOC wire to the ground.
Connected the blue (remote wire) to my p.cont on my amp. Turn everything on; at first nothing but then the amp turned on. Turn off the car and installed a Cap.
Now the problem. The amp will not turn on. I jumped the power wire to the p.cont to trigger it so as to see if the LOC was the problem (disconnected LOC remote wire first). When I touched the p.cont with a jump wire from power to p.cont - the wire got hot and started to fuse. I removed the wire, tested the voltage since that was weird.
1. 12V from batter to amp. 2. 12V at LOC 3. 12V coming from LOC remore turn-on wire. 4. 12-14V at Cap 5. 12V across power and negative on Amp 6. 12V at negative - p.cont 7. 2-3V at p.cont with nothing connected and grounded to vehicle. 8. Can not jump from power to p.cont on amp as it sparks.
I'm at a loss and do not know if my amp has a problem or if I am missing something.
