OK so i have a rockford fosgate monoblock 1000 watt amp. this amp has two output speakers. the amp will run 1000w at 1 ohm and 500w at 2ohm. I only have 1 12'' Mojo subwoofer that i want to hook up to this amp and it is a dual voice coil 4 ohm. If i run one output on the amp to one coil and the other output to the other coil will this allow me to push my 4ohm dvc sub at 1000 watts?
If DVC works the same in cars as at home, you have 2 wiring options. Wire the VCs in SERIES and have 2x4 ohms= 8 ohms. OR Wire the VCs in PARALLEL and have 1/2 4 ohms =2 ohmswhich your amp will do just fine at 500 watts.
And, if it is further like home gear, the amp will run better and produce less distortion at the higher impedance output.
