Hi,
I buy storage lockers for a living and this last unit I bought had a
bunch of car speakers in them. My question is this, if there is a tear
or small hole around the rim of the speaker, I am assuming it is no
good. this speaker is an Alpine X10. can it be fixed? can the top part
be replaced so the rest is still useable?
any help on this would be great as I know nothing about this stuff.
Thanks!

I assume you are talking about a type X 10" subwoofer, maybe a pic would help, if the cone or suspension is damaged, it can be fixed but it may be expensive.

I am so frustrated. I was trying to get a picture up but no matter what size I did it at it kept saying it was too big. so sorry I dont have a
picture. but yes its the subwoofer. there is a small hole where the
screen part meets up with the flex part of the rim. I dont know if that makes any sense without a picture. I just didnt know if someone
would buy it for like $50 with the hole there and could get it fixed and
if that would be worth it to them.
thanks.

yeah, sorry I could have added the link, I wanted to show where the
hole was. but if you look at that picture there is the netting part or
whatever you call that, and then a wide solid ring and then ridges, the hole is where the solid ring meets the ridges. is that part fixable if the sub still works?
also do you know how to test an amp without hooking it up to a car? I have a bunch of amps that I dont know if they work or not and Cartoys wants $35 a test, not an option.
Thanks!

You just need to downsize the image and store it as .jpg or other compressed format.. all can be done with paint.

Anyways fixmyspeaker.com can do it and do it well is just that is not cheap.

Regarding the amp testing it can be done with a car battery or with a beefy PC power supply (low output only). However you need to be a little familiar with wiring stuff right and with amp settings.

Awesome! Thanks for the info on everything. Much appreciated! I dont think I will mess with the amps. I dont want to ruin them.
