Need radio code for 1998 BMW (dealer cannot help)

I managed to lose the unlock code for my BMW radio. I went to the BMW dealership and they removed the radio, got the serial number and sent it to BMW in Germany at a cost of $50. The response was that it was that the code was not available because they no longer had the code in their system since it was relatively old!?!?!? Their advice was to buy a new radio

I am stuck. I tried and paid for the normal route and really could use some help. I am legit. This is not a radio that someone would steal anyway, it has the tape deck thing going on.

Car model: 1998 BMW 323ic
Radio Model: 8BDU
Serial number: W0723721

Looking at other posts, maybe the right full serial number is something more like AL 8BDU W 07 23721. But, the above is what the dealer provided to me.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

I don't think 12211 will work using the usual calculator as this is a US BMW Alpine C33 radio .

If it doesn't work then try emailing

restoredclassic@aol.com

to see if they can help

Thanks - I am contacting the email Reg Rooster recommends. The car was bought in the US but I am currently living in Europe. So, that may explain why it is so difficult to get the code here.

I seem to remember the code having a 5 in it so I don't believe the 12211 is correct. If I don't hear back from the restored classic email, I'll give 12211 a try but I think that'll result in it being locked and unable to enter another code for some time.

Great news! I did contact the Restored Classic at AOL dot com email and managed to get my code back! I punched it into the radio and glorious music started to come out of my car speakers once again.
I needed to pay a small fee of 7 GBP to retrieve the code but that is nothing considering that replacing the radio would be far more expensive. Very happy!
