I have a Sony CDX-GT62IPW (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158GT62IPW/Sony-Xplod-CDX-GT62IPW.html) receiver unit hooked up in my 2001 Kia Sportage and I'm hoping to install it into my 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. The problem is that according to Crutchfield I need an $80 adapter so that I can maintain my door chime alert. It's not worth $80 to me, especially considering other adapters are $10-15. So my question is this: 1) can I use my old adapter from the Kia (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120701003/Kia-Receiver-Wire-Harness.html) instead of the recommended one (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120GMRC01/GM-Factory-Integration-Adapter.html)? The wires all appear to be the same colors and amounts but I don't know much about this. 2) (optional) will my Kia in-dash receiver kit (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_003KIA1240/Kia-In-dash-Receiver-Kit.html) fit in my Grand Am as opposed to the recommended GM one (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142GM1583B/In-dash-Receiver-Kit.html)? They look the same but I can't find any part specs for height and width. |

I don't care about the warning chimes so I don't want to get a GM specific adapter just to pay for the warning chimes. All the other adapters are $10-20 and the GM specific one is +40 even on eBay, and the model you linked me isn't even usable with my vehicle (2002 Grand Am; the one you listed is 2003 and up). |

Working 28-32 hours a week at a minimum wage job with one roommate to help me split bills doesn't leave me a lot of extra play money and I haven't had my system hooked up in my car for at least 6 months so I'm just looking for a nonexpensive way to enjoy my driving time again :D thanks for all the help and links I truly appreciate it brother. |
