I have a Boss Ba-800 amp and the protection lamp is on and I cannot fix this.
- Amp was working then stopped whilst driving
- Now turn amp on and green power light comes on shortly followed by the protection light coming on and the power light switching off
- Amp seems to flick the power on every 10sec or so for a brief moment. Like its trying to work
SO FAR I HAVE TRIED:
- Removing all speaker cables, and RCA etc (Red light still on) - Having just the B+, Rem, and Earth connected. - Checked the earth, runs directly to battery in 50cm cable - Checked B+ connection and Fuse - Remote is running through 5m long wire, checked voltage with multimeter (12.5v) supplied - Checked B+ Voltage (12.5 13V) - Checked resistance with multimeter on all connection including speaker connections, all resistances are high - Checked all transistors for shorts using multimeter, all fine
It's a cheap amp, and poorly made. the amplifier failed. you won't be able to fix it unless you open it up and happen to have a degree in electrical engineering, or have the schematics to that particular amp and access to the parts like the transistors/finals and power supply bits to replace the damaged parts. It'd be cheaper to spend $40 and buy another Boss amp.
