Gold Member Username: Livin_loudMW2 Addict Post Number: 3557 Registered: Jan-06 | looking into a desktop since my video card is starting to sh!t in my laptop. i have the ability to do this myself but i figure people such as deathoob could do it better. if i get no response here i'll take a look myself and see if i can compare to this.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103371 what i want: a budget media whore/video coder. budget: around $600. i'm not too worried about the video card. as long as it plays full hd mkv's with ease and has hdmi out i'm fine. sound card is a must. nothing crazy but an optical connection would be nice. quick program response and good audio/video rendering speed are my main concerns. 1tb of storage will be plenty. usb 3.0 is a must. looking for an internal bluetooth module but i haven't had luck with that.. usb will do. |

Gold Member Username: Livin_loudMW2 Addict Post Number: 3558 Registered: Jan-06 | thanks for the suggestions Rob. well this is what i've come up with for the key components.. cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115071 ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231402 mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131710 you had mentioned not to bother with a p67 board.. not sure what that means or why? |

P67 does not allow integrated graphics, but does allow for Crossfire or SLI, and better overclocking. It's aimed more towards gamers. H67 chipset will allow you to take advantage of your Sandy Bridge processors built-in graphics. Good for HD video. It's aimed more towards home/business use. Z68 will combine features of both. So if you don't want to run a dedicated GPU, then go with a H67 mobo. It'll save you some money too. |

Gold Member Username: Gcs8Atlanta, Ga Post Number: 2080 Registered: Sep-09 | i am not a fan of the cooler master products any more, they haven't impressed me in a long time. i would have used this cooler if you are going to spend the money http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181010 that or the H100. and i would have spreed the 8GB over 4 sticks unless you plain on moving to 16GB later but ram in sets needs to be matched. as far as case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139008 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139009 but that's me for that price range. other then that it looks like it should be a good build. |
