So I finally got my new equipment installed. I will start by saying my goal with this build was to keep a completely stock look, but make it sound great.
So lets cut the BS and get to the PICS
Heres the car, old pic when there was snow on the ground lol
Parts list for the system:
RE Audio RE6.5C components RE Audio SRX12D2 subs PAC AOEM-CHR3 factory HU interface Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D and SAX-125.2
Components installed in the doors. The silver is dynomat, I always use it between speakers and baffles. Used adapter brackets to mount the 6.5" and tweeter in the factory 6x9 opening, but I had to mod the adapters on the grinder quite a bit, the holes were not big enough for these speakers. lol.
The door looks completely stock with the panel back on.
View of the battery / spare tire compartment with the trunk liner still out, fuse blocks mounted on the left.
Amps on the back of the seats.
I bought 4 subs since they were a deal at $100 each, and I was impressed by how loud it was... actually was WAY more bass than I need lol. So I took 2 of them out and sold em to a friend, so now I'm only running two of them at a 2 ohm final load to the 1500D, so getting ~800 watts. And it's still plenty loud.
And this way, the spare tire compartment is easilly accessible since the box doesn't sit on where it folds up. And I half half my trunk left.
The split rear seat can still have half folded down.
The car also had a spot in the rear deck where an 8" factory sub would go if it had the "premium" stereo. So I just cut out the sound deadener that covered it, and now the truck is vented into the cabin thru that opening.
I used a PAC audio interface to get RCA outs from the factory radio. Here you can see the radio with my iphone mount, and PAC audio bass level control.
Awesome is how. lol. They are easily the best $130 speakers out there. They sound I'd say 90% as good as the $350 set of CDTs in my truck.
" still have the blazer or is it gone? "
It is gone, but my I miss that little old truck. That thing served me well for 7 years and 80k miles. Had 210k on it when I sold it and still ran great. My new truck is a 94 Chevy 1500 so I have that and the charger now.
" what did you use to mount those amps on the back of the seats? "
Just hardware store zip screws into the metal frame of the seat back.
Hey those square ones worked great... lol. I recovered them in blue carpet and they are in the truck now haha. Both trucks have the same issue, no depth available in the door to mount speakers, stock ones are in the dash.
@ Canaan, Yes I used all the wiring and accessories you sent me, thanks man. Had to run down to the local audio shop for one extra set of ring terminals but that was it.
